Marine Hybrid Urbanism

Not a wall against the sea.

Townsville work was the wet edge from the land: wetlands, foreshores, living civic beaches. Marine Hybrid Urbanism is the same concern from the water side. Living surfaces on platforms. Land, mangrove and pontoon as one city.

This is beginning. It is not the Townsville archive.

The idea

A hybrid city. Not a floating one.

Reclamation and bunds still matter. Marine Hybrid Urbanism is the missing register: program that lives with the water, not only behind it. Every pontoon kisses land. Utilities, fire, access and law remain of the city.

The ground plane is a tide gauge. Parks, bunds and mangroves remain the first defence. Selected uses shift onto sheltered water where fill is too slow or too brutal.

Who does what

Zingspace takes the living surface.

We design ecology, planting, public use and water-sensitive program on the deck. The float, mooring and marine structure stay with FlexBase and marine engineers. The Singapore water-city thesis lives at delt.asia.

Living program

Rain gardens, habitat, shade and public decks on water. The same operations brief we write for a wetland: it has to work after opening day.

Attach to land

Access, fire, utilities and law stay of the city. This is not seasteading as exit.

Partners

FlexBase for the platform. Architects for buildings. Engineers for sign-off. Zingspace for the living edge.

Bring a site

A harbour, an estuary, a basin.

Bring us the water and the program you need: public deck, event pavilion, neighbourhood edge, aquaculture walkway. We write the living surface. Partners hold the structure.
